Author, Adventurer Wendy Drake
Founder Wendy Drake’s first memory of adventure dates back to age five. She wandered out of her yard onto a path in the Appalachian foothills near New Boston, Ohio. When she returned with stories of exploring an abandoned shack and her “system” of memorizing landmarks so she could find her way home, her mother’s hysterical reaction didn’t compute.
A mother’s overreaction when her toddler wanders off into the woods alone is understandable. Luckily, her parents’ quick move to the city had no impact. Wendy was forever smitten with exploration.
Now based in Boulder, Colorado, once inspired, Drake’s energy is infectious. She is the author of Running to Thousand Letters and a co-founder of the Boulder Banditos Running Club.
